Cardiff Crewing Filipinas Inc. Fleet Officers Meeting.

On December 7, 2023, Cardiff Crewing Filipinas Inc. (CCFI) hosted the end year Fleet Officers Meeting (FOM), followed by the Christmas party on December 8th at the Sheraton Manila Bay hotel.  

Over 100 Officers and cadets, coming from all parts of the Philippines, serving on the bulk carrier, tanker, & LNG fleets attended the FOM along with more than 20 Managers and staff of CCFI.

The meeting was opened with a brief introduction of the TMS delegates from Athens and executive guests by Mr. Kostas Panagiotidis, the Principal’s representative in Manila, followed by an overview of CCFI’s performance, highlighting that more than 2,300 seafarers had been deployed up to the end of November 2023 with an average retention rate of 90%.

Mr. Demetrios Koukoulas, Managing Director of TMS Dry division, presented an update of the TMS Shipping Group, highlighting that over the next 4 years there would 49 newbuildings delivered to the Group, consisting of 16 tankers, 7 LNGs and 22 bulk carriers.

Then, a very interesting remote presentation on Port State Control in Australia was given by Mr. Tesoriero Marco, Senior Marine Surveyor of AMSA.

After the morning snack break, Mr. Nikitas Eleftheriou, Environmental Manager of the Dry division, delivered a presentation on the Environmental Management System of the bulk carrier fleet, followed by an engaging presentation on Hazard Perception given by Capt. Vasilios Kozadinos, Q.A. Superintendent of TMS Cardiff Gas.

After lunch, Mr. Manolis Vouros, Senior Crew Operator of TMS Dry, gave an interactive presentation on communications and its importance on board, followed by an interesting presentation on the Greenhouse effect and emission control delivered by Mr. Demetrios Koukoulas.

Following the afternoon snack break, Mr. Ankur Seth, RightShip Vetting Superintendent, gave an informative presentation on the RightShip Safety Score and vessel inspection questionnaire, followed by a presentation on Operational Unsafe Practices delivered by Capt. George Evdaimon, Marine Manager of TMS Dry.  

The FOM was concluded with Mr. Demetrios Koukoulas participating in an open question and answer session with all Officers attending the event.

On December 8th, CCFI hosted another forum at the Sheraton which was attended by over 35 Officers and cadets serving on the TMS Cardiff Gas, LNG fleet.

Capt. Nikolaos Arvanitakis, Crew Manager of TMS Cardiff Gas, gave an introduction of the LNG fleet from the crewing perspective, followed by Capt. Nikos Fragkos, Deputy Operations Manager, giving an insight from the Operations department point of view.

Capt. Vasilios Kozadinos, Q.A. Superintendent, continued with an introduction of TMS Cardiff Gas from the Q.A. perspective, followed by Capt. Teofilo Nieto, CCFI’s Crew Manager for the tanker & LNG fleets presenting the opportunities for promotion and other relevant issues.

The forum was concluded with Capt. Vasilios Kozadinos, giving a presentation relevant to the Q.A. department, followed by an open question and answer session.

In the evening of December 8th, CCFI hosted the annual Christmas party at Sheraton with over 300 seafarers and their families along with CCFI’s office staff and the executive guests. The opening of the party was provided by the honor guard cadets from the University of Perpetual Help maritime education section, followed by presentations from the cadets and office staff along with excellent live music, exciting raffle prizes, awards to loyal seafarers and the Sheraton’s usual delicious buffet and drinks. The ever-genial Capt. Stu Fraser was the life and soul of the party. A great night to remember by all.
