CCFI 2024 Year End Fleet Officers Meeting

On December 12th, CCFI hosted the year end Fleet Officers Meeting at the Sheraton Manila Bay hotel.

A delegation from TMS Head Office attending the event included Mr. Demetrios Koukoulas/ Managing Director, Mr. Dimitris Makris/DPA & HSQE Manager and Capt. George Evdaimon/Marine Manager from the Dry division. Capt. George Sfakianakis/Deputy Crew Manager, Capt. Frigkis Konstantinos/Marine Superintendent and Mr. Ioannis Giontzis/Fleet Manager from the Tanker division. Capt. Nikos Arvanitakis/Crew Manager, Capt. Nikos Fragkos/Deputy Ops Manager and Capt. Ilias Stergiopoulos/DPA & HSQE Manager from the Gas division.

The meeting was opened by Mr. Konstantinos Panagiotidis, Principal’s Representative at CCFI, who after introducing the TMS delegation & the executive guest from AMSA gave a brief overview on CCFI’s performance which included nearly 4,000 seafarers deployed during 2024, over 100 promotions of Filipino seafarers up to end of October and a retention rate of Filipino seafarers of over 96%.

Next, Mr. Demetrios Koukoulas gave a brief overview of the TMS Group which manages 138 vessels in the water and 43 NewBuildings for delivery within the next 3 years, placing TMS among the biggest privately owned shipping groups in Greece.

Mr. Greg Collinson, AMSA Senior Port Marine Surveyor, gave a very informative presentation on Port State Control in Australia highlighting the importance of adopting a transparent approach in reporting any deficiencies on board openly and timely.  

After the morning snack Capt. Ilias Stergiopoulos gave a presentation on Human Factors in shipping and after lunch, Capt. Don Tungala and Mr. Oscar Gonzales from CCFI Training department (soft skills) gave an informative presentation on cross cultural differences between the Filipino & European ways of thinking and acting.

Next, Mr. Ioannis Giontzis gave a presentation on the recent tanker acquisitions and the newly installed SCR systems, followed by Capt. Konstantinos Frigkis with a presentation on overcoming challenges, committing to excellence & strengthening company culture and Capt. George Evdaimon with a presentation on best practices for safe anchoring.

After the afternoon snack break Mr. Demetrios Koukoulas gave a very poignant presentation on the importance of effective reporting by using the right way to share the right information with the right people at the right time, highlighting the fact that no matter what steps are taken, training is given, and precautions are taken, there will always be an element of something that goes wrong onboard which must be promptly reported to the Company for receiving support.  

This was followed by an open forum question and answer session until 17:00 and the group photo opportunities.

On December 13th TMS Cardiff Gas held a meeting with the officers and cadets from the Gas division focusing on the expansion into the LPG market and the new LNG tankers being built in Korea whilst the Tanker division held a meeting with its officers at CCFI training auditorium on recent developments and its new build program.
