On Wednesday 18th September CCFI’s training department hosted a day long seminar on the operation, maintenance and trouble shooting of the Panasia Exhaust Gas Cleaning System (Scrubber) that TMS are currently in the process of retrofitting throughout the fleet. 55 marine engineering officers from all ranks attended the seminar at our auditorium. Mr Demetrios Koukoulas Managing Director of TMS Bulkers, TMS Dry, TMS Offshore services and a director of CCFI delivered the presentation. Mr. Koukoulas who is a Mechanical Engineer and former Technical Superintendent has been spearheading the $400 Million project involving vessels from both the dry bulk and tanker fleet.
Panasia’s President and Chief Operating Officer Mr. Peter Yoon, and Senior Director and Quality Division Head Mr. David Lee were also attending the presentation and the following question and answer session, helping to answer questions raised by the engineers. As of September 15th, 18 vessels in the dry bulk fleet and 12 of our tankers are operating with Panasia’s U type open loop exhaust scrubbers.
CCFI will also be sending 15 marine engineers to Panasia’s headquarters in Korea for additional theoretical and hands on practical training at the end of October, after the training the engineers will attend final installation and commissioning of the new technology at some of the shipyards in China where the retrofits are taking place.
